Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

jzagaja: So would it be possible to estimate the cost of the profile in post #28 for 4+ pieces?

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

Osobně bych stál o menší s celkovým průměrem 32-35cm. Vzal bych si asi jen jeden kus na centr. DE250 s rezervou vyhovuje. Adekvátní drivery od jiného výrobce jsou dražší.

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

Chápu. Nejsem v zásadě proti tomu udělat to menší, stejně bych to nejspíš dával dohromady s 12" (zas to nechci dělat zbytečně malý, když už to budu dělat od nuly...).

OK, večer sesmolím ještě menší průměr, nebo klidně něco nadhoď. Bude to něco jako "2.519 90 25 4 0.05 1 1", od oka, aby se to rozumně vlezlo do těch 35cm.

Lukas went to Paris so it will take max. one week. Below BEM simulation of our state-of-the-art CD horn took 10 hours on a standard PC (!)

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

What are the off-axis angles?

- About an ellipsoidal waveguide - it'd have to be bigger horizontally (so to depth) to not to loose vertical directivity control, wouldn't it. Too big for me... Maybe we could try to decrease the "height", deform it a little (costly experiment however), I don't know smile I probably wouldn't do that.

By now it seems that the final shape will be "ordinary" OS WG with total diameter of 35 cm...

--  Mr. Bartolini from B&C replies "The first step before throat exit in the DE 250 driver has not a flare angle, but it's cylindrical. Most 1" drivers in our catalogue are designed this way." So what? What is meant by 6.5° and what means 14.6°?

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

On axis to 40 deg off axis, 10 deg step.

Elliptical JMLC horn:

Gustavo Bohn <gbohn@bcspeakers.com> - he gave me the angles list.

What is first step before throat exit? There IS a flare angle in the throat.

Já mu ještě napíšu...

We will solve the final shape soon.. Looking forward to that.

-- So it is 14.6 deg full angle, Mr. Bohn has confirmed it today, with some nice drawing of the driver.

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

Could you post this drawing?

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

I don't know if it isn't confidential big_smile You have mail...

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

Won't you order a complete Summa ESP15 kit? Crossover is known - you can find components value with optimizer.

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

Do you mean Abbey Kit? Well, I'd love to... but..  What exactly do you mean, by the way?
Because of great respect to E. Geddes, I don't want just to copy his work exactly - well, walking his footsteps so far... smile

It's a pity that such a few people here are interested in a solid speaker design. We have only 3 pieces to order by now (me and MethMan) http://img.xchat.centrum.cz/images/x4/sm/5/105.gif

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

I mean enclosure for self gluing and painting. Here's an approach when you can't afford compression driver - use modal driver:

"We have only 3 pieces to order by now (me and MethMan)"

3 pcs. not pairs? We can wait. Lukas asks me if you like to CNC enclosures?

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

3 pieces. Maybe let's conclude some finall shape/size (OS as given) and offer group buy together with diyAudio members...

Personally I can make enclosure myself (and it's fun to do), so probably not, thanks.

-- Also, some people may be a bit sceptical about the output quality and don't trust it just upon the pictures you gave. I don't know how to convince them. (To me it looks completely fine and it will be baffle-mounted so I'm not afraid of insufficient rigidity also...)

Re: Custom made horns and waveguides

This driver looks different - it doesn't have conical throat, maybe good for OS:

We've got HF20AT model from Germans and working on a new horn.

Would you like to have a foam too?
